Frame – Press Release

Disorderliness, no more the default normal

Raivata, Inc. launches Frame, a device to reduce net local Entropy

MUMBAI. Sep 13, 2035. Raivata, Inc., the pioneer in metaphysical industrial solutions has launched Frame, a consumer device that allows reduction of Entropy, the degree of disorder, in a local system. It allows its users to reduce the disorderliness of any object or a group of objects by reversing the increment in its entropy which has happened over time. Till today, the second law of thermodynamics prohibited this, thereby proving that from atoms to universe, everything moved away from order towards a randomized state, increasing their respective disorderliness.

Entropy, in technical terms, quantifies the number of microstates that are consistent with the macroscopic quantities that characterize a system. In layman terms, it is a system’s degree of disorderliness. Second law of thermodynamics has till now stated that there is no practical or theoretical way to reduce entropy; at best, it can be retained at the same level. Daren, a 42 years old father of two, says, “I learned about the concept of Entropy during my High School and now revisited it while teaching my son last year. The first time, it appeared to me as a purely theoretical concept, at best explaining why objects in isolated systems cannot heat up on their own or why my deodorant always dissipated by noon. But now, I realize how Entropy is closely linked with time. I cannot fully grasp the potential of Frame yet, but I know for sure that it has major ramifications.”

The interlinking of Entropy and time is not a new concept. Leonardo da Vinci, the famous polymath, noted reminiscing about his childhood memory of finding a whale fossil in a cave in the Tuscany region, “Oh time, swift despoiler of all things.” While we cannot be sure of whether he actually hinted at how arrow of time always points towards increased entropy, we do know now that it is true. With the passage of time, a tidy room disorganizes, gas molecules spread out, people age, heavy elements radiate, and the universe expands. Frame claims to be able to reverse such disorders, but purely for a localized object or system. Does that mean Frame is a mini time machine, capable of reversing time, locally?

Vikram, Director of R&D at Raivata, says, “At Raivata, we have always pioneered what has been hitherto unachievable by humanity. Frame is a major leap in the same direction. Customers are free to interpret it as a time travel machine to fuel their fantasies but we consider it purely as a product that will ease human lives to a great extent.” Frame is, simply put, an actual empty rectangular frame with few buttons on its side. At a glance, one can easily mistake it for a frame of a painting yet to be made. To use it, customers have to select the past time duration to which they want their objects to have the entropy of and just pass the object through it. It currently supports reversing entropy to a maximum of ten hours in the past.

The customers who were a part of the confidential trial run are excited about the launch. Ravi, a 25 years old fresh college graduate, says, “Frame is by far the most important gadget I have owned. I have passed my crumpled t-shirt to get it in the neatly ironed state it was in five hours back, my cooled coffee to get a piping hot one, and even a glass of Scotch-on-the-rocks left out for long to get one with ten cubes of ice in it – all of it within seconds. I am very excited to know that now a larger population will be able to use this magnificent device. I myself have ordered one for my parents.” The launch, however, doesn’t come without any controversy. It is marred with a recent report that one of the trial customers passed her dead dog through the Frame with a hope to infuse life in it. The dog had come to life but was in such an extreme pain, scrimping and whining, rolling on the floor and hitting its head on the wall, that the customer herself had killed it immediately.

Ryan, the head of Public Relations at Raivata, says “You will always have such rumors and retributions surrounding any event that shakes the world belief of what is possible. We all have heard of Kubrick directing the moon landing or the anti-vaccine campaigns that still exist (God knows, why?). We had an extremely controlled test environment for our seven trial users, all of them being monitored 24×7 with each of their test cases scrutinized manually by our experts. And to address what is being said – no such event happened. You cannot make a dead being come to life using Frame. Period.” Allegations aside, Frame was launched with much fanfare in Mumbai today at a scale never before seen in India. The event saw participation from almost all the leading innovators, industrialists, celebrities, heads of states, and to our surprise, army officials of the world’s most powerful nations and corporates.

Frame comes in two sizes – 10×12 in and 15×20 in – and priced at $999 and $1,499, respectively. It is currently available for pre-order at https://www.frameit.com and will start shipping from 15th October.
